So I'm new to this whole blog thing! I started this blog, I suppose, as an outlet for myself! Hope you enjoy!
A few weeks ago, my best friend, Brittnay, asked me if I would go with her to her cousin's wedding. The wedding was an out-of-town wedding, and she was going to have to stay the night in a hotel. Her husband wasn't able to make the trip, but wasn't completely comfortable with her traveling by herself, so she asked me! My first question, "Is this a child-free trip?" She replied, "Absolutely!" I said, "Sign me up!" (I know that sounds harsh, me wanting to be away from my kids, but we were gone for only about 24 hours!) I was super excited to actually sleep in a bed BY MYSELF!!! We went to the wedding, which was beautiful, and then headed out to eat afterwards. Let me tell you, a trip to a resturaunt, without diaper bags, sippy cups, high chairs, and booster seats, is great! No screaming for bite-bites, no tossing food across the table....just peace and quiet! So then we headed back to the hotel room (at 9:30 because it was past our bedtime) and went straight to bed. As I laid there and chatted with Britt about many different things, we started discussing how relaxing it was without the kids there and how great it was to be able to sleep in a bed by ourselves. After a few minutes of that, the conversation immediately turned into a discussion about just the different reasons why our kids are awesome. I immediately started missing them. I missed those feet in my back. I missed that cover being kicked off of me! I missed it all! I absolutely love my children and am so thankful for them! We were only gone for one day, but in that small amount of time, all of the things that I wanted a 'break' from, I honestly and truly missed! I'm so glad that I went! I really enjoyed the adult conversation, but it is going to be a while before I'm so ready for an "escape" again!!!
